Week 4: Hidden tutorial
NOTE: This is a level design contribution post looking for feedback from YT channel @Jesus_Machina, who explains design concepts and sets weekly challenges. This time, the challenge is to design a small playable area where the player is taught a basic mechanic without using text. The player should leave that area knowing how to use the mechanic. The advanced version of the challenge is to apply at least one of the following options:
- Choose a rare mechanic to teach (not a jump or a basic interaction).
- Design the level to teach the player without creating the feeling of tutorialization
- Force the player to use the mechanic properly in order to end the level
